Determine your UK pension eligibility
If you reach state pension age on or after 6 April 2010 and have worked for just one year in the UK, you may qualify for a UK state pension. You may also be able to buy added years.
If you reached pension age before 6 April 2010, you may need up to 11 working years in the UK to qualify for the minimum UK pension eligibility. However, you may be able to buy added years to attain this status.
Men born on or after 6 April 1945 and women born on or after 6 April 1950 now need only 30 qualifying working years for full UK pension eligibility.
As a member of CABP, you will also learn how to get the most from your “frozen” UK pension.
For example, did you know that when you visit the UK and other non-frozen countries, you may be eligible to receive the full, index-linked UK pension for the period of your stay?
The Canadian Alliance of British Pensioners can help.
